Rene Vincent Bernard, 41, of 17 Churchloop Rd., Wagmatcook, passed away peacefully at home, Nov. 11, 2011. Born in Baddeck, N.S., he was the son of Susan (Simon) Bernard and late David Bernard. Rene was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was employed with the WEAP program in Wagmatcook every spring and summer. Rene always greeted others with a smile in a gentle manner that will be missed by all his family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Susan Bernard; his children, Zachary Pierro, Wagmatcook, and Katrina Pictou, Afton; grandchildren, Zederick and Parishova Pierro-Roberts, Wagmatcook; brother, Robert Simon, at home; sisters, Jessie Christmas, Membertou, Mary Simon, Sydney, Patty Simon, Wagmatcook, Jackie (Phil) Drinnan, Aberdeen. He is also survived by his godchildren, Lavena Paul, Membertou, Madison Bernard and Bryson Isadore, Wagmatcook; several aunts, two uncles and several nieces and nephews. Besides his father, he predeceased by brothers, John Andrew Simon, Michael Pierro, brother-in-law, Roger Christmas Sr., nephew, Cyrus Peck, grandparents, Mary Ellen and Andrew Simon and Frank and Mary Susan Bernard. Visitation was held Tuesday on, Nov. 15, 2011, at the Blessed Kateri Tekawitha Centre. The funeral mass was held on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 at the Blessed Kateri Tekawitha Church. Fr. Robert MacNeil officiated. Burial was held at the Queen of the World Cemetery. After the service a feast and salit’e followed at the Wagmatcook Culture Centre. Allan John Isadore, Born In: Baddeck, Nova Scotia, Canada. Passed in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. Passed on: October 30th, 2011. Allan John passed away Oct. 30, 2011, at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck, he was the son of Isabel Isadore and the late John Cremo. He was a member of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha parish, Wagmatcook. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He worked as a plumber for the Wagmatcook Band for many years. He also did various jobs including helping out at the gas bar, water plant and wherever he was needed. Allan always helped anyone in need. He is survived by one daughter, Isabel Isadore; three sisters, Barbara Isadore, Waycobah, Theresa Dennis, Sydney, and Diane Isadore, Membertou. One grandchild, Alexandria Isadore; one godchild, Austin Isadore; and several nieces and nephews. Beside his father, he was predeceased by a infant daughter, Alexandria and one sister, Mary Ellen (Molly) Sylliboy. The wake was held at the home of Mary Janet Isadore, 64 Jo Gun Rd., Wagmatcook on, Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011. The funeral was held at the Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Church, Wagmatcook, Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011. Fr. Robert MacNeil officiated. Burial in Queen of the World Cemetery. Mary Agnes Marshall, 81 of Eskasoni, formerly of Wagmatcook, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Wagmatcook, she was the daughter of the late Gabriel and Mary Susan (Isadore) Peck. She was a member of Holy Family parish, Eskasoni. Agnes was passionate about children and loved to baby sit, play cards and bingo. She is survived by her daughter Jane Rose Peck, Membertou; son Gabriel (Heather) Marshall, Eskasoni; sister Jean Peck, Eskasoni; brother Ben Peck Sr., Wagmatcook; 12 grandchildren, special grandson Kirk Peck; several nieces and nephews; foster son Rio Johnson, Eskasoni and godchild Natalie Paul. She was predeceased by her husband Bernard ‘Bernie’ Marshall; son Jacob Peck; grandchildren Tara Herney, Kateri Marshall; sisters Josephine Marshall, Bella Paul and brother Michael Peck. Visitation for Agnes Marshall took place on Tuesday, November 22 at the family residence 4512 Shore Road, Eskasoni. Funeral mass was celebrated on Thursday at Holy Family Church. Rev. Sandra Peck, Born In: Baddeck, Nova Scotia, Canada. Born: September 8th, 1968. Passed in: Baddeck, Nova Scotia, Canada. Passed on: November 2nd, 2011. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, godmother and great friend to all, Sandra Marie Peck on Nov. 2, 2011, in Baddeck. Born in Baddeck on Sept. 8, 1968, she was the daughter of Benjamin Peck Sr. and the late Elizabeth (Francis) Peck. She was a member of the Blessed Kateri Tekawitha parish, Wagmatcook. She is survived by son, Elijah; daughter, Cassandra; brothers, Leonard, Abraham, Eugene, Anthony, Roger (Angela), Ben (Martha), Calvin and Lester (Ann); sister, Jane Elizabeth; most cherished granddaughter, Martha jij; godchildren, Armando Tontarelli, Gloria Peck, Sebastian Pierro, Amber Isadore and Aaron Marshall; and plenty of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by maternal grandmother, Annie C. Pierro, paternal grandparents, Mary Susan Isadore and Abraham Peck (Eskasoni), son, Cyrus, sister, Martha, brothers, Gregory and Cyrril, nephews, Joshua and Nilan, nieces, Elizabeth Ann, Cyndi Joy, Vanessa, (twins) Angelina and Angelica. Sandra was an avid TV bingo player. She loved to cook and clean. She would go visit her friends and family and just start cleaning. Sandra worked as an adult care worker for a few years as well. She would take pictures whenever she could, joked around with friends and just loved to laugh or make us laugh. Sandra adored spending time with her grandchild, Martha Elizabeth. Visitation was held at the family home on, Sunday, Nov. 6 at Ben Peck Sr.’s home on 6 Church Loop, Wagmatcook. The funeral was held on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at the Blessed Kateri Tekawitha Church, Wagmatcook. Fr. Ajit officiated. Burial at the Queen of the World Cemetery. Tommy Rose – It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Tommy Rose in Edmonton, on Tuesday Nov. 15, 2011. Born in Boston, Mass., he was the son of the late Mary Ann (Simon) Rose. Tommy was happily working as a resident manager at the South Point Apartments in Edmonton, Alta. He enjoyed fixing and working with computers, he has always enjoyed working with beads, doing beadwork has been one of his favourite things to do his whole life. He was a man with a big heart, who liked to help out others in need in Edmonton. Tommy is survived by his loving children, Thomas “Michael” Mellen, Melanie Mellen (Joel), Tyler Mellen and Kyra Rose, all of Membertou, and his precious granddaughter, Tatianna Mellen. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert “Midgie” Stephen, William “Billy”, Chris (Paula), Beverly, Mary-Ann and Danielle; several nieces, nephews and godchildren. As well as his best friend, Manson, Alberta. Besides his mother, Tommy was predeceased by his aunts, Sue Denny and Elizabeth Christmas, his uncles, Louie Simon Sr. and Stephen Simon Sr. Visitation was held Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, and Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at the S.W. Mary Toney (Jeddore), Born In: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. Passed in: Eskasoni, Nova Scotia, Canada. Passed on: November 14th, 2011. Mary Rita Toney of Eskasoni, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 14, 2011 at home. Born June 5, 1931 in Sydney, she was the only daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Ann (Marshall) Googoo. She was a very well respected elder of the community and the longest serving school board member, having served 31 years with the Eskasoni School Board. She was a devoted member of the Ste. Anne Du Beaupre pilgrimage and a Eucharistic Minister for the Eskasoni Holy Family parish. She was also a member of the Eskasoni Ladies Club. She is survived by her 10 children Sheila (Norman) Morris, Allan (Vivian) Jeddore, George (Linda) Jeddore, Andrew (Beverly) Jeddore, Gerard (Deanna) Toney, John David Toney, Ruben (Mary Agnes) Toney, Frank (Treena) Toney, Claudine (Jason) Johnson, all of Eskasoni and Georgina (Chief Brian) Francis, Rocky Point, PEI. She was also survived by 36 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren and numerous extended family. Rita was predeceased by her first husband George Jeddore; second husband Lawrence Toney; Mary Eileen Jeddore at six weeks of age and Terrance Patrick at three years old. Visitation for Mary Rita Toney took place on, Sunday, November 20 at the Gabriel Center, Eskasoni. Funeral mass was celebrated on Tuesday at Holy Family Church. Rev. Martin MacDougall officiated.
