Howe, Douglas Frank – 88 – Sheet Harbour, went to his heavenly home to join his beloved wife, Eleanor on Tuesday, July 17, 2012. Born in Elmsdale on April 12, 1924, he was the eldest son of the late Albert and Mary (Paul). He had a great sense of humour and was a fantastic storyteller. Even when he felt his worst, he was quick to tell you that he felt like a spring chicken or just like a young trout. Dougl loved to play his guitar and sing when he was younger, be it in the house, in the car or our under a tree. Dough had an unwaivering faith and love of Jesus that carried him through the trails of life, most recently the passing of the love of his life, Ellie. He is survived by his children, Dianne Hubley, Cole Harbour, son John (Laverne), Sheet Harbour, Mary (Ricky Gerrard), Popes Harbour, 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, James (Florella), Sheet Harbour, Albert (Fran), Donnie (Glenda) both of Cole Harbour; sisters, Flossie Markie, Millbrook,; Marlene Rowe (Al), Victoria, B.C.; Roxie (Ronnie Asprey), Sheet Harbour and Cathy Smiley, Cole Harbour; son-in-law, Reid Hubley, Dartmouth; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and long-time good friend, Alan Harvey, Quoddy. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Eleanor or as he called her, Ellie; son, Gordon and granddaughter Laverne. Visitation was held 2-4 and 7-9 pm in DS Crowell & Son Funeral Home, 22558 Hwy 7, Sheet Harbour. Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, July 20 ...
