On September, 16 Millbrook youth and 17 adults headed off to the Cape Breton Highlands for the Annual Youth Moose Harvest Camp. The camp has been up and running for close to ten years and is meant to help promote our traditional culture and community bonding by providing kids with a chance to hunt moose communally. The kids are taught about conservation, how to properly hunt game, handle firearms safely, clean the animal and take care of the meat. They also learn how to work together as a team.

The camp consisted of two large carport tents, one to act as a cook tent and gathering space and one as a sleeping tent. The kids had sleeping bags and sleeping mats and pretty much just picked a space on the floor to claim as their own. There were vari ...
