Dorene Bernard, Shubenacadie Band member, joined the Mi’kmawey Debert Cultural Centre team as the IRS (Indian Residential School) Legacy Project Coordinator in April 2013.  She enjoys her work with IRS Survivors and their families and communities to help to gather, document, protect, and preserve the history and their stories and honor the lives of the Shubenacadie Indian Residential School survivors and their families from the Atlantic region for the future generations.
