Since October is “Mi’kmaq History Month”, all the teachers here at LSK were able to attend the two-day “6th Annual Mi’kmaq History Month Educators’ Conference” in Millbrook. What an enjoyable, well-planned conference! Thank you to Mrs. Patsy Paul-Martin and Mr. Gordon Pictou for organizing such a meaningful conference, and thank you for the delicious traditional meal. I truly enjoyed the moose meat.

Speaking of delicious food, our new chef, Miss Kelsey Julian, and our kitchen staff, prepared a wonderful turkey dinner for us. There were some technical problems, but it was all worth it in the end. We were very thankful that day for the many teachers and staff who chipped in and helped out by serving the food, and to the administration and council members who watched the children play outside while their teachers ate their meals. It is wonderful to see everyone come together to support each other.

This school isn’t just busy during the school day; we are equally busy after school.

Grades 4, 5, and 6 “Dance and Drama” Club hosted a “Showdown”. The hard work of this group raised over $580, which will go towards the purchase of costumes and some cordless microphones.

The Elementary staff and students hosted our annual “Fall Fair”. Some of the activities included: a “Haunted Stage”, cake walk, book walk, sucker pull, Robot Punch-Out, Frankenstein and Spider Toss Games, and canteen services. There were over 200 children w ...
