One of the largest First Nations in Nova Scotia is the Sipekne’katik First Nation. The Mi’kmaq community of over 2000 people is located in Central Nova Scotia, approximately 30 kilometres from Truro. In an effort to revitalize its commercial fishery, the Sipekne’katik Band has acquired a new 50 foot fishing vessel to harvest lobster and snow crab.
