Family and friends of the late honorable leader Grand Chief John Denny Jr. gathered on April 12th, 2016 in Eskasoni Gabriel Center, Eskasoni NS. The service was to remember the past leaders of the Mi’kmaw nation and share stories of the rich historical culture. The service embarked the discussion of the hereditary Grand Chief title and the importance of returning the “Traditional, Spiritual & Cultural Ways” of the Mi’kmaq.

A respected Mi’kmaw Elder Pauline “Mooney” Francis recited a Mi’kmaq prayer to begin the service, followed by Mary Jane Sanipass to discuss future planning’s of the Si Denny Gatherings in July and discussing of the Sacred Pipe.
