MONCTON – Premier Brian Gallant hosted partners from more than 70 economic development organizations in Moncton at an Opportunities Summit on economic development.

“We are working with New Brunswickers to create the right climate for economic growth,” said Gallant. “By working with our economic development partners, New Brunswick will be nimble when it comes to attracting new investment and opportunities for growth. We also need to work with our partners to ensure we have the right economic development capacity across the province.”

At the summit, participants representing municipalities, First Nations, as well as provincial and academic institutions were provided an overview on the New Brunswick Growth Plan, Opportunities NB’s Strategic Plan and the opportunities-based model.

“This forum allows us to bring our partners together to discuss the strategies that will help us increase economic growth in the province,” said Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Minister Rick Doucet, who is also minister responsible for Opportunities NB. “These groups are engaged and there is a strong commitment from everyone involved to work together.”

Opportunities Summits are taking place around the province to identify new prospects for creating jobs and economic growth. The opportunities identified will be reviewed and evaluated for development as part of an economic action plan for the province.
