S/Sgt. Yorke is the new RCMP Detachment Commander in Eskasoni.

Eskasoni – Staff Sergeant Craig Yorke is the new RCMP Detachment Commander at Eskasoni First Nation.

Originally from Newfoundland, the 28 year veteran of the Force has spent 24 years in Indigenous communities, including Sipekne’katik First Nation (Indian Brook), Elsipogtog First Nation (New Brunswick), Rankin Inlet (Nunavut), Yellowknife and Lutsel k’e (Northwest Territories). He previously worked at Eskasoni Detachment from June 2004 to November 2006 as a supervisor.  Prior to his current posting at Eskasoni, he was District Commander of Victoria County.

As Detachment Commander, S/Sgt. Yorke is responsible for the detachment’s administrative and operational functions and is committed to working with the community to identify and implement local policing priorities. He plans to work closely with the many service providers in the community, as well as Band Council, Elders and youth, and focus on building partnerships, trust and a safe community for all.

“I look forward to meeting more community members as time goes on,” says S/Sgt. Yorke. “I encourage residents in the area to stop by the detachment and introduce themselves. My door is always open.”
