Who knew learning about waste could be fun!

Participants at a solid waste management workshop in Wolfville had some competitive fun playing the Waste Game Sorting Game.

There were some laughs midway through the second day of a solid waste management (SWM) workshop in mid-January at the Old Orchard Inn in Wolfville.

During the Waste Game, led by Alanna Syliboy of the Mi’kmaw Conservation Group (MCG), participants sorted through two bags of “waste” and put them into the appropriate bins.

The participants, from four Mi’kmaw Communities: Acadia; Annapolis Valley; Bear River; and, Glooscap; had to sort the waste into organics, refundables, non-refundables and garbage. They were timed and time was added for each item they got in the wrong bin.
