The Mi’kmaw Conservation Group (MCG) Culvert Project team had a very busy August! After Summer Shutdown, the team tackled the majority of their culvert assessments and completed a total of 13, which was more than the goal of 10-12. These assessments lead them to discover some excellent culverts as well as some that need remediation. They will be using some of these sites next year to complete remediations.

The remainder of the field work involves culvert remediations and a culvert removal and will be completed by the end of September. The plan is to complete 10 remediations and thus far, only two have been completed. The first remediation was a concrete circular culvert located just outside Brookfield.
