The Assembly of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq Chiefs offer condolences to the family and friends of Grand Chief Ben Sylliboy and to the entire Mi’kmaw Nation.

“Grand Chief Ben Sylliboy was deeply committed to the Mi’kmaw people and spent his life guiding, teaching and inspiring those around him,” said Chief Terrance Paul, Co-Chair of the Assembly of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq Chiefs.

“We offer condolences and express our deepest sympathy to his family, fellow Grand Council members and many friends.”

Grand Chief Ben Sylliboy was the leader and a respected member of the Mi’kmaq Sante’ Mawio’mi (Grand Council) – the traditional form of government for the Mi’kmaw Nation that brings together the seven traditional districts of Mi’kma’ki.
