On January 9th 2018, my son Trevor Sanipass did a land acknowledgement in Mi’kmaq to the Prime Minister of Canada. He was approached by the team of Darrell Sampson, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Liberal party on behalf of Justin Trudeau. My son graciously accepted the request and invitation from the Prime Minister.

Initially he was asked to do an honour song and a land acknowledgement, however, due to time constraints, he only did the acknowledgement. I want to say how proud I am for my son Trevor, because he mentioned his great, great grandfather, the last hereditary Grand Chief of the Mi’kmaq Nation – John Denny Jr. My son Trevor proceeded with the land acknowledgement in Mi’kmaq and ...
