Through a partnership with the National Museum of the American Indian at the Smithsonian Institution (NMAI), Mi’kmawey Debert is one step closer to bringing a large and significant Mi’kmaw collection home.
Chief’s coat belonging to Chief John Sark of Epekwitk (Prince Edward Island) (032060.000, National Museum of the American Indian). It is noted that the hearts were placed on Chief Sark’s coat by a Wolastoq’kew while visiting their territory, as “…he had a good heart toward the [Wolastoqiyik]…”
