The Atlantic Policy Congress of First Nations Chiefs Secretariat (APC) are pleased be in the midst of offering three Aboriginal Health Human Resource Initiative (AHHRI) community based workers training opportunities in 2015. The first one being Re:Act training, which took place on January 29th, 2015. The second being Trauma-Informed training, which took place on February 25th-26th, 2015. The third will be communications training by NATIONAL Public Relations and will take place on March 18th, 2015.

In response to 2013 Elders’ Gathering, the Elder Care Working Group developed a briefing note on the issues facing First Nations Elders based on the information collected at this Gathering. The Atlantic First Nations Health Partnership Committees were asked to develop a response to the concerns raised by the Elders and provide some concrete actions as to how we could address some concerns raised by the Elders. It was agreed upon at the April 2014 Mental Wellness Committee meeting that we would seek the following training opportunities: Re:Act training and vicarious trauma.

Re:Act Training: Re:Act Training is used to raise awareness and coordinate community responses to abuse and neglect of older or more vulnerable adults.
