For 24 year-old, Lauren Sylliboy of Eskasoni, being diagnosed with breast cancer at such a young age was a shock to her and her family. Her emotions were heavy and many tears were shed when she got the terrible news in February that her biopsy was positive; Lauren had stage three breast cancer.

Chemo was started immediately and her young career as a teacher was put on hold and her entire attention was to overcome this new reality and beat cancer. For the first few weeks of chemo, Lauren’s outlook on life was understandably poor. She was depressed and sad and always questioned, “Why Me?”
