Located along the shores of Northumberland Strait and the mouth of the Bouctouche River in Kent County, New Brunswick, is the Buctouche Mi’kmaq Band. Over the last three years, this small community of approximately 100 residents has made great strides in building a strong and sustainable commercial fishing enterprise (CFE).
Community business leaders started by developing a business plan and crafting a business model that best suited their needs. With the assistance of Ulnooweg Development Group’s Business Development Team, the Buctouche Mi’kmaq Band identified the human resources and finances required to move forward. Before long, the CFE’s business plan began to unfold and elements began to fall into place.
