Deadline for Applications: Wednesday, January 10th 2018, 5pm

The Atlantic Filmmakers Cooperative (AFCOOP) invites individuals interested in learning about filmmaking to apply to the New 8 Program. New 8 is an education, production and mentorship program for beginner filmmakers 16 years and up. Eight participants admitted into the program will be given the training and resources to create a one minute film using Super 8 film stock.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday, January 10th 2018, 5pm. The program begins in late January 2018. Both the application and participation in the program are free.

Participants will attend intensive workshops and receive mentorship from professional filmmakers and will be awarded cash and services to produce their minute long film. To be eligible, applicants must be residents of Nova Scotia, have an idea for a one minute film and demonstrate a commitment to taking part in the program through their written application.

New 8 prioritizes welcoming new voices into the filmmaking community from diverse backgrounds and perspectives. If you self-identify as coming from an underserved community please feel free to indicate this on your application form.

Eligibility

  • 16 years and up
  • Little to no filmmaking experience
  • Commitment to taking part in the five month program (Jan. – May 2018)
