Six representatives from The Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq (the CMM) toured the St. Croix Mi’kmaq Forestry Initiative (MFI) lands to identify species at risk and species of interests. Through the Indigenous Forestry Initiative (IFI), The Nova Scotia Department of Lands and Forestry has leased these forested lands to the Mi’kmaw of Nova Scotia.

Community members now have an opportunity to advance economically within the forestry sector, while following the guiding principle of sustainable harvesting, Netukulimk.
