Valedictorian Melinda Laboucan of Fort Good Hope, NWT shares her excitement about the “journey that turned into an adventure.”

Fifteen young Indigenous women from across Canada, including two from Nova Scotia, have completed a unique leadership course and graduated from Coady International Institute at StFX University.

The award-winning Indigenous Women in Community Leadership program began on campus in May 2012, continued with three-month summer placements and ended in August with final project presentations and graduation. Imperial Oil Foundation and Exxon Foundation funded the program to support First Nations, Metis or Inuit women who aspire to create positive changes in their communities.
