There are many types of domestic violence, and it can happen at any age, to anyone. According to Nova Scotia’s  Domestic Violence Action Plan, aboriginal women in Canada experience domestic violence more often and more severely than non-aboriginal women. This information has been acknowledged in the community of Membertou. Many community members are taking a stand and doing whatever they can to promote the awareness of domestic violence in all communities.
