In 2010, my mom was diagnosed with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC). What is PBC? It is a chronic liver disease. It is believed that PBC results from an abnormal reaction of the body’s immune system. It attacks the liver causing slow, progressive damage to the bile ducts (small tubes through which bile flows out of the liver). At the time of her diagnoses, she had given each of us some information about what PBC was. I recall reading through it and didn’t think much about it.
