Woodstock’s fishing vessel, “Maliseet III”.

The vibrant Woodstock First Nation is located on the west bank of the Saint John River approximately 90 kilometres north-west of Fredericton, New Brunswick. Despite its challenging inland geographic location, Woodstock First Nation has persevered in developing a strong and growing commercial fishery enterprise (CFE). The Maliseet First Nation’s fishing vessels are moored and stored at Grand Manan, New Brunswick, a small Bay of Fundy island community located 200 kilometres south-west of the community.

“When your business is located so far away, it’s not easy and it represents an additional obstacle to overcome,” said Woodstock First Nation’s Commercial Fisheries Coordinator Greg Paul. “However, we are up to the challenge and are working hard to build our CFE to the best of our ability,” added Mr. Paul.
