The Department of Education in Sipekne’katik is hosting numerous cultural teachings within the community. tarting in October 2017 the Education Department, along with the Sipekne’katik Red Road Reps, have had a workshop every Sunday consisting of Waltes Board Making, Wreath Making, Poppy Making, Quillwork, Peyote stitch earrings and Healthy Meal preparation. The workshops are proposal driven written and submitted by Velvet Paul, Director of Education, “my goal is to promote and provide opportunity for cultural teachings within our community open to all ages”, it is nice to see elders, youth and parents all come together to learn new crafts that they can hand down to the next generation.
