Despite the rain and heavy wind forcing the celebrations indoors, the Eskasoni Health Centre held their grand opening in the beautiful lobby of their newly constructed facility on October 12, 2018. The weather and the tight compounds of the space for such an event didn’t stop Elders, residents and a crowd of well-wishers from attending.

The ceremony started with a prayer from Elder, Eskasoni Health board member, Georgina Doucette. Followed by Eskasoni Immersion School traditional singers, chanting the Mi’kmaq honours song in celebration. Pride for the future generation filled the room as attendee’s listened to the children proudly singing in Mi’kmaq.
