On July 11, more than 300 athletes from the Atlantic provinces gathered in Halifax for the first ever Atlantic Indigenous Games. Youth aged 18 and under came together to celebrate culture and sport through competitions and educational activities.

As a summer student at Indigenous Services Canada, I was lucky to attend the Atlantic Indigenous Games and get to know some of the young Indigenous athletes and learn their diverse experiences.
