White Supremacist Racism

My response to an opinion about preserving racist monuments that Len Canfield had published in the Halifax Herald.

Facts that Len Canfield left out when writing his opposition to the removal of racist monuments. The statues being smashed and removed in the USA and England are those of White men who invaded defenseless countries around the world and brutalized their non white populations and who fought to continue with the practice of selling humans as work animals. They were out and out white supremacists, who staunchly believed that the White race was superior in every manner, intellectually etc. He tries to justify the Cornwallis barbarity.

My rebuttal in regards to Canfield’s Cornwallis comments.

The practice of offering bounties for the scalps of the Indigenous peoples in the areas of North America that the British had invaded, and by brute force took possession of, was a long standing practice. It all started in the early 1600s, when English colonial officials started offering bounties for the heads of Indigenous peoples, then, around 1670, perhaps deciding heads were too cumbersome for the bounty hunters to carry around and produce for their payment, they switched to offering bounties for scalps. The effort was so successful that they practically wiped out the Indigenous population of a large part of the East coast of the Continent.
