Lindsay Construction and The Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq, Millbrook First Nation Break Ground on New Headquarters

HALIFAX, NS – September 7, 2021 – Lindsay Construction, in partnership with The Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq, Millbrook First Nation, today broke ground on the site of a new three-storey office building.

The project is a new venture between the CMM and Millbrook First Nation. The 40,000 square foot building is scheduled for completion in Fall 2022 and will house all of CMM’s almost 150 staff.

The building was designed by Architecture 49 and will feature and open and airy reception and lobby, a series of meeting rooms of varying sizes, a kitchen, a lunch room, executive offices and a lounge.

The CMM works as a tribal council to provide programs and services to its eight Mi’kmaq member communities, located on the mainland of Nova Scotia. The CMM offers an array of services including health, legal, membership to science research, and elders advisory.

The CMM was incorporated in 1986 as a not-for-profit organization under the Societies Act of Nova Scotia. It began as a team of two staff members and thirty-five years later, the organization is now supported by more than a hundred and twenty employees.
