Yay… we finished our first month of school!!! It is great to be back and to see all the students. I have missed them, and from all the hugs I received, they missed me, too.
September has been a busy month. We have three Mi’kmaw language instructors and it is so nice to have the students back to singing the Honour Song over the intercom before the start of our school day. Our principal also gives us our Mi’kmaw word of the day. It is a great feeling of pride to hear the students speaking our traditional language more and more.

Our new staff is fitting in well. We are lucky to have a new Tech. Ed. teacher, Glen-Ryan Walters… or better known to the students as GR. At first, I thought he was a new student because he looked so young, but to find out he was the teacher was a bit of a shock. He seems like a nice guy and some of our students already know him from hockey.

In addition to Glen-Ryan, we have Lise Charbonneau who joined the junior high staff. Another new staff member, and new position for our school, is Shane Shaw, who is our behavioural specialist. He is a very busy man. I always see him running around with one student or another. Good thing he is physically fit!

A couple of our teachers have been relocated to new rooms. The LLI (Levelled Literacy Intervention) room is back to being the library’s neighbour. Mi’kmaw Language for grade two to six will be holding in-class sessions instead of traveling back and forth be ...
