Congratulations to The 2022 Mi’kmaw Hall of Fame winners! This year three people were inducted into the hall of fame for their contributions to Sports

Shirley Francis from Sipekne’katik First Nation was inducted based on

Builder – Shirley Francis… Shirley has been a Champion of sport in her community of Indian Brook for over 30 years. She has been Co-ordinator of the Annual Peter & Agnes Julian Memorial Hockey Tournament for many years. She was also a long-time Co-ordinator of the Annual Labour Day Fastball tournament. Shirley has been involved in youth sport development in her community and has been a positive role model to all. Shirley has made a significant contribution to the betterment of youth and adult sport throughout her life.

Ritchie Denny was selected for;

Athlete – Richard Denny… Ritchie Denny has accomplished a lot in sport over his lifetime. He excelled in the sport of Basketball in winning many championships. Richie was also a solid D Man in Hockey who always showed up to play hard. It is Fastball where Ritchie was most accomplished. He was a standout Pitcher and Hitter for many years. Notably he Pitched at Provincial , Eastern Canadian and National Championships for several years. His career spans 4 decades as he was competitive through several generations of Fastball. It is safe to say that he is one of the winningest Pitchers in the history of Mi’kmaq Ball.
