Zachary Julian receives prestigious TD Scholarship for Community Leadership

TORONTO – Local Nova Scotia student Zachary Julian is one of twenty high school recipients to be awarded a TD Scholarship for Community Leadership, valued at up to $70,000. Students who have earned the scholarship have demonstrated innovation and passion for making a difference in their community.

Zachary is a member of an RCMP youth group where he leads alcohol and drug prevention workshops and has also been recognized for developing the all-First Nations lacrosse team east of Quebec. In just over a year, Zachary lead the charge in creating the Millbrook Warriors, which has now grown to 20 members and has been an inspiration to other First Nation communities in Nova Scotia who are now looking to develop their own lacrosse programs.

“Zachary always finds ways to develop himself and he enjoys sharing his knowledge to benefit others,” says Constable Darren Sylvester, RCMP Indian Brook Detachment. “I am so proud of Zachary for being awarded this scholarship – he is a very respectable young man and a diligent worker who is always willing to lend a helping hand. He is truly a positive role model in the Millbrook Community.”

In its 18th year, the TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are awarded to students in their final year of high school or CEGEP in Quebec who have demonstrated leadership in improving their community. The scholarsh ...
